THANKSGIVING

Nous n'allons pas vous refaire l'histoire de Thanksgiving, car nous n'en avons pas la prétention mais aussi car c'est aussi très bien expliqué ailleurs. Mais en ce jour si important aux yeux des américains, nous nous y arrêterons quelques instants. Juste pour préciser que ce jour nous vient du 17ème siècle, et destiné à remercier les indiens et le ciel pour avoir permis aux premiers pionniers de s'installer sur le territoire américain.

Mais c'est en 1941, sous la présidence de Roosevelt que fut déclarer ce jour comme "Legal Holiday" par le congrès instaurant ainsi le 4ème jeudi de novembre... Aujourd'hui encore, ce jour est fêté, entre amis, en famille ou il est de mise de partager un bon repas.

1944-2014, tout à changer, la guerre est terminée, mais ce soir comme tous les 4ème jeudi du mois de novembre, la dinde sera en principe dans beaucoup de foyers. Alors si l'envie vous tente de dire "Merci" à n'importe qui, n'hésitez pas, cela fait toujours plaisir...

"Thanksgiving" is a national "Legal Holiday" celebrated by american as a day of giving "thanks" for the blessing of the harvest and of the preceding year. Several other places around the world observe similar celebrations. It is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November in the United States. Thanksgiving has its historical roots in religious and cultural traditions.

They're celebrating Thanksgiving on this very day,
My thoughts are at home, though I'm far away;
I can see everyone, eating dinner deluxe,
Whether it be chicken, turkey or even a duck; 
The fellows over here won't whimper or moan.
They'll look to the next one and hope to be home.
Truly and honestly, from way down deep,
They want you to be happy and enjoy your feast.
These holidays are remembered by one and all,
Those happy days we can always recall.
The ones in the future, will be happier, I know
When we all come back from defeating the foe.
