I saw that this week on Helmet Depot...
The text is not mine, but directly from the website : "Here is actually one of the first painted helmets I ever purchased. Obviously a Navy used set, it has a grey painted band around the outside, roughly the same size as other Navy D day marked helmets. Whats unusual about this one is it also has a grey painted star on the top. This could quite possibly be a Normandy used helmet with landing markings, but I really have no way to be certain, hence the price. Pot is an early example having a heat stamp of 64A, and cast brass buckle on the chinstraps. Liner is a Westinghouse example with green painted steel A washers"
